The Extinction Room is a short comic created in response to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) WGIII assessment report published in 2022. In the report, scientists mapped out all of the possible emission pathways before us (3000 of them).
Begum illustrates how disastrous a 2°C future is compared to a 1.5°C and highlights how global temperature rise can affect nature, animals and humans. Begum has also captured key messages around personal action to help limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
Comissioned by CONSTRAIN, a 4-year programme of research and engagement, funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme. Led by the University of Leeds, the CONSTRAIN consortium involves 14 partners and around 50 researchers from 9 countries across Europe.
